(Plenty of those around seventy years later…)
It was a so-called “off vintage” (translation: it rained a lot) but the best examples were fruity, easy-going wines that lasted surprisingly well.
The 1954 Mouton label was designed by Jean Carzou (1907-2000).
Carzou’s wheel of fortune image on the 1954 is a metaphor for the capriciousness of Mother Nature and growing grapes…
