Arden Fine Wines has a bottle with a tentative link to the 1963 “Profumo Affair”, subject of the recent drama series “The Trial of Christine Keeler”.

This enduring British political scandal brought about the resignation of John Profumo, the Secretary of State for War, and contributed to the defeat of the Conservative government in 1964.

Arden has a bottle of Graham’s 1977 from the cellar of the late British television producer, documentary filmmaker, journalist, and television executive Desmond Wilcox (1931–2000).

At the height of the scandal in 1963, Wilcox interviewed Stephen Ward, the osteopath and artist who was one of the central figures in the Profumo Affair. The interview is included in Tom Mangold’s “Keeler, Profumo, Ward and Me”, broadcast on 26th January 2020.
