Wine and music: “The Rooftops of Copenhagen” by Tom Russell

Described by the folk music expert and broadcaster Mike Harding as balladeer and story-teller”, Tom Russell released his album Folk Hotel in September 2017.

“The Rooftops of Copenhagen” describes a man, in Russell’s Johnny Cash-type baritone, walking into a bar in Copenhagen and then “Orders up three Champagne magnums”… It could be the start – or ending – to a Raymond Chandler novel.

Love the American pronunciation of “Copenhargen” – which is actually much closer to the Danish pronunciation of “København” the the English “Copenhaygen”.

Thanks to Mike Harding’s excellent folk podcast for pointing me towards this.
