Having met the canorous Vanessa Cinti at a lunch recently, I was invited to visit her at work.
(I don’t have any photos of her but the image below shows one of her colleagues hard at work).
Vanessa is the sommelier of Cut at 45 Park Lane, the new London outpost of Wolfgang Puck, a superstar chef in the USA but hardly known in Europe. The wine list here is indicative of the US-influence: it “boasts the largest selection of American wines in the United Kingdom.”
I drank Domaine Drouhin Chardonnay 2009 and Prager Grüner Veltliner Federspiel 2008, both exemplary examples of their types.
The “Rough Cuts” menu in Bar 45 above the main restaurant has delights such as Mini Kobe Sliders.
Great stuff – but the Park Lane prices are painful for an impecunious hack like me.
